Axel Benjamin Herzberg is an expert in litigating, arbitrating, and collecting claims of all kinds, both nationally and internationally. He primarily handles domestic and international commercial arbitration as well as cross-border commercial litigation matters. He also has vast experience in German as well as in cross-border asset tracing and asset recovery work.

In addition to his work as party's counsel, Mr Herzberg also frequently acts as arbitrator in international and domestic proceedings (especially ICC and DIS) and, upon nomination of the German National Committee of ICC, has been appointed member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and of its Task Force on Emergency Arbitrator Proceedings.

Mr Herzberg studied law at the German universities of Passau, Munich and Freiburg, as well as at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, where he earned the Certificate in Transnational Law. Following his first state exam in Germany in 2006 (ranking among the top 2 %), he served as research assistant at the University of Basel, Switzerland, and subsequently completed his practical training period (Referendariat) with the Supreme Court of Berlin, Germany, earning his second state exam in 2010 (ranking among the top 5 %).

Posteriormente, foi nomeado Conselheiro Adjunto no Secretariado do Tribunal Internacional de Arbitragem da ICC em Paris, França, onde tratou de mais de 80 arbitragens comerciais internacionais e de investidor-estado. Em 2011, Axel Benjamin Herzberg assumiu o cargo de associado do grupo de contencioso e arbitragem da Baker & McMenzie em Berlim, onde tratou de assuntos relacionados com litígios internacionais até 2013. Em 2014, Axel Benjamin Herzberg concluiu com "mérito" o programa de pós-graduação LL.M. em Direito Comercial Internacional da Universidade de Londres (Queen Mary/UCL) e fundou a HERZBERG LEGAL, que se fundiu com a BODENHEIMER HERZBERG, da qual o Sr. Herzberg foi um dos dois sócios fundadores em 2017. A sociedade conta atualmente com quatro sócios e mais de 20 advogados de seis jurisdições diferentes em dois escritórios (um em Berlim e outro em Colónia).

O Sr. Herzberg é um especialista certificado pela Ordem dos Advogados em direito comercial internacional (FA IWR), membro do Comité da Ordem dos Advogados de Berlim para advogados especializados em direito comercial internacional. Está também inscrito na lista de solicitadores dos tribunais superiores de Inglaterra e do País de Gales.

O Sr. Herzberg é frequentemente convidado como orador, conferencista ou palestrante em conferências e seminários em todo o mundo. É um dos editores-chefes do comentário mais pormenorizado em língua alemã sobre a CCI e o Regulamento de Arbitragem DIS (Nedden/Herzberg/Kopetzki, ICC-SchO / DIS-SchO, 2.ª ed., 2022).
